Enhanced superelasticity of nanocrystalline NiTi/NiTiNbFe laminar composite

This study explores a new concept of the synergy between two constituent shape memory alloys (SMAs) in composite to achieve wide superelastic temperature window. In this work, nanocrystalline NiTi/NiTiNbFe dual-SMA is designed, which SMAs are both capable stress-induced martensitic transformation, but within different ranges. Based on principle lattice strain matching SMAs, transformation one induces other at temperatures latter will not when standing alone. Via able an ultra-wide window 336 °C, from ?196 140 with ?5% tensile recovery and high stresses range 700–1400 MPa. Such properties appear superior all NiTi-based date. • Lattice was used design lamellar more than 300°C superelasticity The exhibits ultra-high ranging 700 1400 MPa over Strong SMA components responsible for properties.
